Jewish Community Center

The CILV Community Center is located in a beautiful mansion, purchased in 1980 through a bequest and other funding sources. This former hotel and boarding house, situated on Avenue Georgette, at the very heart of the city and steps away from the synagogue, is a showpieces of late nineteenth century architecture.

Major renovations were necessary to adapt the available space to the demands of our community. Its four floors now contain rooms for youth activities, the secretariat of the CILV, the office of Youth, the restaurant and its kitchen, a modular area with movable walls for receptions, classrooms for Talmud Torah, and a large multipurpose room for meetings, conferences, screenings, and celebrating religious occasions.

“The Center”, as it is colloquially referred to by the members of the CILV, truly merits this name as it is the hub of community life. The restaurant attracts many regulars each day at noon for a strictly kosher meal. A display cabinet offers a small selection of religious objects not found elsewhere in town.Many associations connected with the CILV make use of this location to hold their meetings and events. Our greatest joy, however, is when we see the multitude of children who frequent the center.
