Founded at the initiative of the Jewish communities in the French speaking part of Switzerland over 20 years ago in Geneva, CICAD plays a leading role in the fight against anti-Semitism. CICAD is a non-religious association working to promote tolerance and civic values. Important parts of our activity are dedicated to creating informational materials and implementing educational programs to combat anti-Semitism and discrimination and preserve the memory of the Holocaust. (Annual study trip to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp, conferences and survivors’ testimonies in schools, development and distribution of pedagogical materials. Training seminar for the teachers on the Shoah history theme and on the history of Switzerland’s position during the Second World War.) it advocates for Defending Israel’s right to existence, fighting against antisemitism disguised as criticism of Israel, reaction when slippages, amalgams and untruthful words are noted in the treatment of news on the Middle East. It is for this reason that CICAD considers it its responsibility to encourage the creation of connections with various political and social actors. Only through such initiatives will the breeding-ground for exclusion and the rejection of others—ignorance—be defeated.

Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael is an alliance between the Jewish people and its land.
Founded by Theodor Herzl in 1901, during the Fifth Zionist Congress in Basel, at the behest of Hermann Zvi Shapira, Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael - or Jewish National Fund - was behind the creation of the State of Israel. Its main purpose was to lay the foundations and strengthen the link between the Jewish people and its land. In this sense, it is considered to be the executive arm of the builders of Zionism.

Varied tasks
While many know these famous three initials, few would measure the extent of the KKL activities. They are as varied as thy are indispensable. Without its action, the Land of Israel would not be what it is today.

Thanks to KKL, settlement areas were created from north to south. Forests, roads, and water tanks emerged from nothingness. Parks, recreation areas, and tourist attractions have been built, and archaeological remains have been restored. From the dry, desert landscape, a flourishing agricultural land has developed. Additionally, all of these projects have created thousands of jobs.

Thanks to a century of hard work, Israel has been transformed. Today it is a modern, robust, and verdant country, which constantly pushes to limitations of the desert to improve their quality of life and gain prosperity for all its people.

The first “green” O.N.G in the middle east
The KKL's missions revolve around three main themes: land, water and trees. The KKL is recognized by the UN for its efforts in favor of environmental protection. It gladly manages to combine economic performance and sustainable development.

An institution open to all
One of the particularities of the KKL is its commitment to establishing a dialogue with non-Jews and to involve them in the cause of a greener, more beautiful, and more fertile earth. In addition, as Zionist partner, the KKL is actively involved in the life of Diaspora Jewish communities.

How can I contribute to the cause?
There are various ways to contribute to the work of the KKL in Israel:

The JNF Trust Treuhand-Gesellschaft AG (Legacies and Behests)
The JNF (Jewish National Fund) services of all those who, lacking direct heirs, want all or part of their wealth be dedicated to developing the land of Israel through KKL. A unique feature of the process of fiduciary of JNF is to combine remembrance and construction. It immortalizes the memory of donor in an actual project for the benefit of future generations. Interested persons are invited to contact the JNF, which will arrange a discrete meeting, to arrange how to best meet their expectations. Legal assistance is available for all procedures.

The JNF provides its donors firm guarantees:

• The entire legacy or donation is devoted to the freely chosen project.
• Bequest and donations are exempt from inheritance tax.
• The wills are scrupulously respected.

Education, at the heart of the Zionist project
From the outset, the KKL has invested in the education of young generations, to which it teaches love and respect for the land and the historic ties between the Jewish people to the land of its ancestors.
Still now, it develops all kinds of educational projects in Israeli schools, parks and forests, where it regularly hosts students and their teachers. During the new year for trees (Tu Bishvat) for example, all students are invited by the KKL to plant a tree; a symbol of their roots in Eretz Israel.

Strengthening the Zionism in the Jewish Diaspora
Long before the state of Israel was created, the KKL became known around the globe by means the "blue trunk” by which Jewish families were directly involved in the acquisition of land in Eretz Israel. Though this familiar object continues to fulfill its symbolic function, the KKL has since greatly expanded its educational activities: It regularly dispatches skilled group leaders to Jewish schools in the Diaspora for activities such as singing, dancing, and various workshops, and diffuses educational materials.

It also organizes trips to Israel for the youth in Jewish communities worldwide.

NOAM, the Youth and Leadership group of KKL (25-40 years old)
NOAM, the young adult group of KKL (Keren Kayemeth LeIsraël), aims to offer Romands between the ages of 25 to 40, a movement which provides concrete and apolitical support to the state of Israel.


An acronym for Noar veManigut, « Youth and Leadership », NOAM is notable for its ambition to complete a project in Israel and contribute to the well-being of a society that lives by and through the solidarity of all.

NOAM aims to promote the existence and actions of the KKL so that young people become ambassadors for the State of Israel. The philosophy of NOAM is based on the principles of equality, respect for nature and the desire for growth.

NOAM provides young people, the passion to commit and get involved collectively for a specific cause.

NOAM is also a means to meet others through activities, excursions and conferences.

The first meeting of NOAM in 2007 with the Swiss Romande community was a successful brunch during sukkot that attracted more than 50 people!

NOAM also hosts an organized trip to Israel where KKL youth learn about Israeli society, its operation and its expectations, and follow the development of KKL projects.

Kiriat Yearim, our “Swiss Village in Israel“
Originally established as a home for the orphans of the Holocaust in 1951, Kiriat Yearim has evolved into an remarkable, specialized school. Today, the village has become a haven for disadvantaged and challenged youth. Exceptionally qualified staff members monitor and coach them as they reintegrate into society. Jews and Christians from Switzerland fund the initiative.

The WIZO of Lausanne and Canton de Vaud is one of the eight branches of the Swiss Federation of WIZO (Women’s International Zionist Organisation). Wizo organizes many activities throughout the year – a gift market in November / December, an evening of support in February, lunches and conferences at regular intervals, as well as a Gala dinner every two years. The funds raised at these events support the needs of women and children of all faiths in Israel. Many of our members are also part of the delegation of the World WIZO at the UN in Geneva.

French-speaking Association of Friends of the Ets-Chaim Yeshiva

The Association supports the activities of Yeshivat Heichal Eliyahu in Kochav Yaakov, near Jerusalem. The Yeshiva, founded in 1927 in Montreux (Yeshiva Ets-Chaim) has always maintained close ties with French-speaking Jewry. It is a hesder Yeshiva, in which students conduct Talmudic studies while performing their military duty in the Israeli Army. Generations of students are engaged in public service. They participate in the dissemination of Torah in all circles of Israeli society, and in numerous Jewish communities in the Francophone world.
